2019 SWCS Scholarship Winner

Loren Gormley

By Jeff Skousen, Scholarship Chairman

Loren Gormley is from Cleveland, OH, and while young her parents took Loren and her brothers on adventures to national parks and other beautiful landscapes, which gave her an early appreciation for nature. Upon graduation from high school, she entered West Virginia University majoring in Environmental Soil and Water Sciences. She has about 40 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.7. At WVU, Loren is the treasurer for the WVU student club Society of Environmental Professionals, an Eco-rep for the WVU Office of Sustainability, a member of the Davis Michaels Sustainability Fellows, a member of Habitat for Humanity, and as a player for the WVU women’s club soccer team. After graduation she would like to work for the National Park Service, conserving some our nation’s most valuable landscapes and heritage, and helping to educate our next generation of young people in protecting our environment and natural resources.
